BSSK’s Commitment to Health and Well-Being
BSSK aligns its mission closely with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, prioritizing Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3). Since its inception, BSSK has recognized that health and education are interconnected pillars of sustainable development.
According to UNICEF’s 2022 report, approximately 6 million children under the age of five die annually worldwide, with Nepal’s under-five mortality rate standing at 27 deaths per 1,000 live births. Many of these deaths are preventable, caused primarily by a lack of access to healthcare, essential medicines, and timely interventions.
Nepal faces significant challenges in healthcare accessibility, particularly for vulnerable and marginalized communities. Countless individuals endure preventable suffering due to systemic gaps in medical infrastructure, unaffordable healthcare services, and geographical barriers. Recognizing this critical need, BSSK actively works to bridge these gaps and ensure better healthcare access for those most in need.
Collaborative Approach to Health Care
BSSK adopts a collaborative approach, partnering with reputable organizations, hospitals, and local bodies to deliver impactful healthcare services. These partnerships include:
- Hospitals: Kanti Children’s Hospital, Nepal Eye Hospital, Om Samaj Dental Hospital, and Teaching Hospital.
- Professional Networks: Dental Students’ Society Nepal and other health-focused organizations.
- Community Organizations: Lions Club, Rotary Clubs, and other local and international NGOs.
- Government Entities: Local ward offices and municipal bodies to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.
Through these collaborations, BSSK focuses on providing:
- Health Camps: Free medical check-ups, dental services, and eye care camps for underserved communities.
- Preventative Care: Health education and awareness campaigns to address issues such as maternal health, child nutrition, and common preventable diseases.
- Emergency Support: Rapid response initiatives to address urgent healthcare needs during crises.
- Sustainability: Long-term partnerships with healthcare institutions to create lasting impact and sustainable healthcare solutions.
Vision for Inclusive Health and Well-being
BSSK envisions a Nepal where no individual is deprived of basic healthcare services due to financial, social, or geographical barriers. By addressing these challenges and fostering collaborations, BSSK is paving the way for a healthier and more equitable society, one where every life has the opportunity to thrive. With health and well-being as a cornerstone of its mission, BSSK remains steadfast in its commitment to creating a positive and lasting impact on Nepal’s healthcare landscape.
